Year Of The Dragon (Happy New Year)

ThePowers whose name and shape no living creature knows
Havepulled the Immortal Rose;
Andthough the Seven Lights bowed in their dance and wept,
ThePolar Dragon slept,
Hisheavy rings uncoiled from glimmering deep to deep:
Whenwill he wake from sleep?
GreatPowers of falling wave and wind and windy fire,
Withyour harmonious choir
Encircleher I love and sing her into peace,
That myold care may cease;
Unfoldyour flaming wings and cover out of sight
Thenets of day and night.
DimPowers of drowsy thought, let her no longer be
Likethe pale cup of the sea,
Whenwinds have gathered and sun and moon burned dim
Aboveits cloudy rim;
But let a gentle silence wrought with music flow
Whitherher footsteps go.

W.B. Yeats (1865–1939)

"Aedh pleads with the Elemental Powers"

From The Wind Among the Reeds, 1899
